Socialist Quotes for Sunday Reflection pt 116

This quotes series was created to allow for Socialists to have a voice beyond social media.  The quotes we have listed have included quotes from people such as William Morris, Joseph Stalin and other great thinkers who everyone should be aware of.  But more than this, quotes have been taken from Comrades on Facebook and other sites.  The weekly posts have included a large number of memes created by like-minded or simply nspirational people.  We have endeavoured to blend prominent figures and people who have great things to say but are unknown.

Looking back through the quotes posts, the censors on social media have been busy deleting pictures which we have linked to.  This has left some of the posts very bare indee, with great quotes lost forever.

The censors have repeatedly banned out Facebook presence, have completely banned us on Twitter, and thanks to this we have been prompted to look,elsewhere for more open sites and for platforms which are less likely to censor us.

Our Facebook presence will continue for now, but other platforms such as VK will be opened up.  We have had no problems on YouTube so far, but we will be looking at Bitchute and other alternatives where we can become active.

This post is a departure from the usual, and more for information than the usual quotes.

We welcome suggestions of alternative sites and platforms where we should push the party.  We also welcome people to send in quotes which you feel need to be shared.

In this interview with Omar Ocampo, researcher on Inequality and the Common Good at the Institute for Policy Studies, we examine why wealth of the very rich has increased by hundreds of billions of dollars since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, we discuss the implications wealth concentration and even tax deductible donations by billionaires have on our society. Lastly we surface the short and long term solutions that policy makers and movements can pursue to improve the system.

Omar is a researcher for the Program on Inequality and the Common Good. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a B.A. in Political Science and holds a Masters in International Relations from the American University in Cairo. His thesis focused on the politics of international oil and humanitarian intervention in Libya. Prior to joining IPS, Omar was an intern for Congressman Stephen F. Lynch. He later entered the nonprofit sector where he worked in direct human and social services.

1. He sold off the government fleet of Mercedes cars and made the Renault 5 (the cheapest car sold in Burkina Faso at that time) the official service car of the ministers.

A Corona Virus Coup.

A Referendum which failed to deliver (for them)

On the 23rd June 2016, the people of the UK and Gibraltar were asked in a referendum whether we wanted  to Remain as citizens of the imperialistic capitalist project known as the European Union, or to take the bold and heroic step forwards into independence and sovereignty with all the potential for freedom that would come as a result.  Of course, the campaign by the then Prime Minister and the media didn't exactly word the options in such ways.  Rather David 'Pigsy' Cameron and the Europhile press presented the choice in a rather different manner, with millions of pounds spent sending every household in the UK and Gibraltar a four page glossy propaganda pamphlet which declared that membership of the EU had brought peace in our time to the entire continent (ignoring the brutal dismemberment of Serbia which saw its historic centre of Kosovo turned into a drug-trafficking centre of operations for global heroin trading criminals, at the behest of the EU, USA and rest of the global cabal), and that leaving the hallowed EU be the direct cause of catastrophes of biblical proportions.  The referendum was rigged to bring in a Remain result, which would have been a green light for adoption of the EU, balkanisation of the UK and a complete end to our nation.  The inclusion of Gibraltar in the referendum was part of the gerrymandering to ensure the 'correct' result was obtained, so the EU project could be advanced and the next step towards a globally administered capitalist empire commenced.

Something happened in 2016 which the global ruling class had not countenanced.  The Working Class rose up electorally and defied the government, media and the EU-loving oligarchs.  2016 descended into open class war, with the Working Class referred to as thick and ungrateful for all that the empire had done for us.  We were subjected to abuse because of our perceived education level (ignoring the fact that before the system was changed to discourage poorer people from attending university, class was becoming obsolete in higher education).  We were called 'gammon', which is an insult which is pretty much a British version of red-neck.  The fact that people of all ethnicities opposed to EU, did not stop the pretentious, self-righteous, condescending, patronising, bourgeois bigots from painting opposition to the EU as a racist issue.  This highlights the mentality of Europhiles who see opposition to the empire they adore as 'racist': Europeans tend to be White!

As the government, liberals and media increased their abuse of the Working Class, opinion poll after opinion poll sent shivers down the place where their spines should be.  In an act of absolute desperation, the regime jumped on the killing in broad daylight of one of their own – the previously unheard of back bench opposition MP, Jo Cox – as an opportunity to create guilt and shame in the electorate for even thinking about leaving the EU.  The killer shouted 'death to traitors' as he killed the MP.  The killer was mentally unstable and the reference could well have been to her failure to get him help when he had asked for it again and again.  The killer was found to be a racist, so the reference could also have been to the fondness of the MP for publicity opportunities with her Asian constituents.  Although of absolutely no relevance, the media and the governing regime jumped on the phrase used by the killer as proof that people who did not love the empire, were psychopaths and killers at heart.  The democratic process was suspended so an establishment puppet could be put in place.  An outpouring of crocodile tears was mandated.  The killing of Cox became a media circus, with every sly and underhand piece of emotional blackmail employed to intimidate those who were considering voting for freedom into voting for continued occupation by the empire due to a sense of shared guilt for the actions of a lone madman who killed an MP for reasons unknown.  The rationale for the media was that the term 'traitor' was an apt description for an MP who was pro-EU and anti-independence, linking Europhilia to treachery!  The thinking of the media was bizarre, and much to the horror of the Europhiles who had swallowed the mountain of anti-British propaganda, the people voted to Leave.


Who was Jo Cox anyway?

Jo Cox was the MP for Batley, whose only claim to fame was being shot dead on the streets of that Yorkshire town by a lunatic who was reported to be some kind of neo-Nazi.  She had campaigned alongside her party (Labour), the government at the time (Tories), the Lib Dems, Greens, Sinn Fein, Plaid Cymru, SNP, mass media, entire machinery of the EU, big business, education system and practically the entire decision making strata of the country, to keep the UK (and Gibraltar) trapped inside the EU.  She wasn't distinct in any manner, and had the intention of anti-EU neo-Nazis been to kill a europhile politician, she was an odd choice.

We are supposed to believe that some lunatic nazi shot her dead because killing a puppet politician would change things in the UK!

But would killing an MP have an impact upon public life?  Well, if the intention was to paint pro-Freedom advocates as 'terrorists' and to make voting to leave the EU appear to be an act of condoning terrorism, then yes, there would be an impact.  Any Freedom advocate would have to be completely deranged and delusional to think that killing an anti-Freedom MP would help the cause.  Killing any MP is pointless, as they're all puppets of the Ruling Class and even if the whole lot of them were wiped out, more parasites would take their places.  But killing Jo Cox as the Referendum looked certain to be won by those who cherish Freedom, would be an act of gross stupidity - unless of course the intention was to wreck the Freedom campaign and guilt the public into voting to keep the shackles of EU oppression in place.

It is possible that Jo Cox was killed to keep the UK in the EU, and that her murder was not the action of a lone lunatic, but was contrived by the state for propaganda purposes.  If this is the case, she was killed to silence any dissent to the globalist agenda.  It is more likely that the lone gunman was seriously unhinged (well that is certain) and the killing was in  no way related to the EU referendum, but was seized upon by unscrupulous opportunists who have no value for human life and will turn a tragedy into an opportunity to spread lying propaganda which serves their purpose.


The Rigged Referendum

In 2016, the then Prime Minister, David 'oink' Cameron, had hinted that 16 and 17 year old children would be allowed to vote in the freedom referendum. Why? Because, as he correctly stated, the referendum on the UK's membership of the EU was one which would impact upon the future of the country.  If the voters had said No to Freedom and Yes to EU capitalism, then life would have become ever worse and the peoples of the British Isles would have signed the death warrant of their children's future.

The assertion that people of 16 and 17 should have a vote because their futures are at stake, seems reasonable enough, but it is looking at reality from the wrong direction.  Most teenagers have never had the experience of seeing prices soar because of VAT.  Most teenagers have not had the opportunity to escape the pro-EU brain-washing of the misnamed education system.  As a result, had children been given the vote, most of them would have voted against freedom and in favour of staying inside the EU because having no comprehension of exactly what the EU is, and seeing it as a cosy club of nations, membership of which is great for partying on far off beaches, it would in the minds of children – many of whom were still in the grips of the state indoctrination system of school/college - be 'unkind, mean-spirited and perhaps a little racist' to not be in it (to use an emotional level of debate which those without life experience will not have seen for the fraud it is.)  In Scotland the elections to Holyrood are now open to 16 and 17 year old children, as are the elections to the Senedd in Wales.  If Cameron had got his way, the EU referendum would have been skewed by the inclusion of children with no life experience, simply voting the way the media, the celebrities they idolised, and the teachers who rammed pro-EU propaganda down their throats, dictated.  Giving children the vote is child abuse.  Thankfully, this madness did not prevail in 2016.  The future of the country was at stake.  In every election, it is those who are responsible for future generations who should have a say - and only those people.

The future of our country should be decided by people with a stake in the future; people with children. It could be argued that people who do not have children have no right in deciding what will happen to the country when they have gone.  If they leave no children, then they are not a part of the future and have no right to have a say in anything which comes after them.

Childless adults can only be motivated by selfish interests - mostly how they will be financially effected by the result of an election.  Childless teenagers are too inexperienced to have a say, and the only reason it was even considered that they should be given a vote was because the Government knew that they had been indoctrinated into loving the EU and could be relied upon to vote to keep us in the prison state.

The EU Referendum was rigged before it had even begun.  The Government pumped vast amounts of our money into propaganda to make gullible people think that the EU is a good idea for the ordinary people, and not just a club for the bankers and global financial mafia.  Cameron lied through his teeth, stating that no-one in the Government would be allowed to campaign for the UK to Leave the EU, then when caught out acting like a dictator, came up with a pathetic story that he really meant to say that no one in the Government must be allowed to oppose the Referendum process and the EU renegotiation.

The referendum was so obviously rigged that it is nothing short of a modern wonder that the people resisted all the machinations of the EU and UK regimes and voted to Leave.


A Farcical Rebuttal of Democracy

Next month is FOUR YEARS since the referendum.  FOUR YEARS!  Although nominally independent since the start of this year, the UK is trapped inside a legalistic mechanism known as the Transition Period, during which all EU law and regulations continue to apply, making the UK a part of the EU, and Brexit something which applies in name only.

In the past four years, the country has ceased to be a democracy in any meaningful sense.  Immediately following the democratic result of the referendum in which the Working Class and thinking Middle Class voted to ditch the empire, the bankers' puppet Prime Minister, David 'pork the pork' Cameron spat the dummy and resigned as  PM, rather than implement the will of the people as he had promised he would.  He was replaced by the wishy-washy Theresa May, who procrastinated until she left her post.  In her period as Prime Minister, she oversaw a large majority turned into a minority government.

The opposition Labour Party changed leadership with the Socialist leader Jeremy Corbyn taking charge.  Corbyn had been a lifelong critic of the EU.  He was of the tradition of the Party which believed that global capitalism was the enemy (which it is) and the EU as a bankers' and corporate globalists' plaything stood in opposition to any hope for a Socialist future in any country it controlled (also true).  Corbyn was manipulated by the party he led into adopting a pro-EU position, promising a Second Referendum if he should be elected as Prime Minister.  This position was a reversal of his ideals and it led to the obliteration of the Labour Party in its northern heart and, with a massive Tory majority returned in last year's General Election with the old Etonian fop, Boris Johnson returned as Prime Minister.  Johnson was elected by such a massive margin because whereas Labour promised another referendum with the hope of stopping Brexit, Johnson stood under the slogan 'Get Brexit Done'.  The election was effectively the Second Referendum which the europhiles had demanded, and just like the first one, the Working Class voted for freedom, with the bourgeois europhile slogan 'bollocks to brexit' becoming the reality of 'bollocks to brussels'.  In January 2020 the transition period began, with the pledge to end the transition in January 2021, with a deal if beneficial to the UK, or leaving on World Trade Organisation rules (so-called no deal) if that wasn't possible.  For the first time since the 2016 referendum, it looked like Brexit was really happening and we would be able to wave goodbye to the EU forever.

However, Corbyn was sacked as leader of the Labour Party, and the arch Remainer 'sir' Kier Starmer put in his place.  Having learnt absolutely nothing from the thrashing in the 2019 General Election, Labour doubled down by increasing the IDPol stupidity which the Working Class despise, and pushing for a return to the EU, Euro currency and all.


Along comes the Corona Virus

2020 has been the year of the Covid-19 Corona Virus.  One of the impacts of the virus has been to push Brexit out of the spotlight.  Well, almost.  The controlled Europhile media have been quite vocal in linking Boris Johnson's failure to accept medical supplies from the EU as putting 'Brexit over Breathing'.  The linking of Brexit to failures in an underfunded NHS critically destabilised through stealth privatisation, highlights that the Remainers are still fighting against the will of the people.  The national media which is pushing such hysterical propaganda has only recently been given millions of pounds of tax-payer money to keep it afloat.  Either it is biting the hand that feeds, or it is pushing stories which will discredit a pro-Brexit Prime Minister and allow for a new PM to take over who will stagnate the process leading to Brexit in name only becoming the norm until the bloc is officially rejoined.  Johnson is hailed as the Brexit champion, but back in 2016 he was sat on the fence, infamously writing two articles (one pro-EU, one pro-UK), only publishing the pro-Leave one at the last minute.  He follows in the footsteps of Theresa May who also flip-flopped and had no hard principles.

The virus has been linked to massive numbers of deaths worldwide, including over 30,000 in the UK.  Compared to seasonal flu, the numbers are not spectacular.  There is no space to go into that arena here, but for analysis of the health scare and the oligarchs waiting in the wings to profiteer, have a look at Peter Wilberg's recent posts (click on the Peter Wilberg label).


So why won't the Remainers accept the will of the people?  What is at stake in all this?

The EU is a building bloc.  It is the financial centrepiece of a long dreamed of global system of governance.  The UK is a vital part of the financial system which the globalists have been building up for generations.  Sat outside the EU, in opposition to the banking house and stock markets in Frankfurt, London will be a problem for the global financiers.  If the UK is allowed to leave the EU, then that will embolden others who are sick of seeing the EU enforcing pro-business policies which see people languish in poverty as the corporations get richer.  The whole 'austerity' programme of governments across the EU is dictated by the central banks which control the bloc.  There is mounting opposition in every EU state.  The UK is an inspiration to peoples across the empire who want to be free.  This is a problem for the EU and the powers behind it.  The UK has to be punished for wanting freedom, and it has to be whipped back into line.  If we leave in a real sense and not just a cosmetic one, others will follow, the EU will be weakened and all the progress towards a single system of  control on behalf of the global corporations and oligarchs will be set back.  There is as much for the enemies of the Working Class to lose, as there is for us to gain.


Boris Johnson

Bojo was elected on a massive majority for one reason and one reason alone – and that was that in spite of being a Tory, he was the only politician who stated that he would implement the will of the people and 'Get Brexit Done'.  If he can be made to appear incompetent in his handling of the corona virus, then he can be deposed.  Next month is critical in the negotiations with the EU.  If the UK government asks for an extension to the Transition Period, it will mean that the UK doesn't leave the EU with or without a deal at the end of January, but rather that it continues in a longer transition during which the country must abide by EU law and regulations.  June is the cut off point for asking for the extension.  The Corona Virus would be very helpful as an excuse for the one-time Remainer, now Leaver PM to justify asking for an extension.

The Corona Virus has been recorded in such a way in the UK that just about every death can be attributed to Covid-19.  This is not to deny that the virus is killing people.  It is.  But the numbers dying solely through the virus are about 1% of the number of deaths attributed to it.  If a 90-year old has a fall and dies, his death certificate will almost certainly have death by corona written on it.  The same goes for people in the later stages of cancer.  The figures are being inflated to make the death toll appear horrendous.  Why, oh why, would a government wish to massage the figures to make the death toll appear worse?  Why?  To boost the figures to make the Prime Minister weaker and to make pushing Brexit at this time appear madness by association.

The media has jumped all over the death toll.  Piers Morgan in particular has become the voice of the opposition to Johnson, unquestioningly using official data to spearhead the assault on the government.  The new leader of the official opposition party is letting Morgan stampede the public into seeing Johnson as a danger to the nation.  'sir' Kier Starmer is a pompous middle class zionist, who is corrupt to the core.  He is – of course – a Remainer.  Should the Transition Period continue until the next election, with the Tories weakened day by day, he would be the next Prime Minister, and Brexit would be over, with the EU empire achieving total victory over a people who dared to try to be free.  Interestingly, most of those who have died fall into the demographics of Leave voters, making the death toll appear to be a punishment for standing against the globalists.

David Icke

David Icke has recently resurfaced in the mainstream media – with the expected hit pieces gaining him publicity.  In all of his recent television appearances, his focus has been on 5G and the Virus.  He hasn't mentioned global capitalism and how it benefits from the imposition of martial law.  For someone who claims to be able to 'join the dots', he cannot even see the 'elephant in the room' which is Brexit.  The impression which can be taken from Icke's failure to discuss this issue and instead to lead his followers by the nose in the opposite direction, is that he may well have been giving out disinformation for years, leading up to this point in time when people are crying out for answers to questions he will not address.  There has been suspicion for years amongst many people that Icke is a pied piper character, controlled opposition and a system shill.  This suspicion is being verified by his almost obvious misdirection in this most important area at this most important time.

Lock-down and more

The lock-down in the UK (which is still being enforced outside England) has prevented people organising and protesting.  It has made the work of the regime very easy.  With no opposition to their propaganda at street level, they have been able to manipulate everyone who has been glued to the TV for the latest death figures.

We are in dangerous territory.  Brexit is in danger.  What is left of democracy is dying.  And the Virus is being used as the excuse to lock us down mentally as well as physically.  People are aware that they are being lied to, but such is the confusion that nobody knows what is true, what is false and why this unreal mixture of conflicting information is being pushed at us.

The regime is working to a plan.  Would the global capitalists take advantage of a pandemic to bring back control and shut down the opposition?  Of course they would.  Would the global capitalists engineer the virus in the first place, and use the 'plandemic' to halt sovereignty movements, cull sections of the population and rush forward to tighten the globalist web ever tighter to prevent us escaping their grip.  Definitely.

It isn't too late to stop them.  But is is getting more difficult.  We have to fight back now.

The downside of it is, that I grow to outright despise the mainstream media, the politicians and all those who help to maintain the panic, because there is no end to misleading information from them 🤬🤬🤬

The numbers just for my country, provided by mainstream, extrapolated onto the entire population, give an infectiousness of 10% and a mortality rate of infected of 0,2%! 🤬. I hate it when you criticise a representative of a certain ethnicity or minority you are automatically labelled as a Nazi. The ones who suffered during the Holocaust were mostly lower and middle class Jews (and other ethnicities), who could not afford to leave or were chased away by mostly Western "democracies". As Europe and North America continue suffering their steady economic and social decline as a direct result of imposing ‘lockdown’ on their populations, other countries have taken a different approach to dealing with the coronavirus threat. You wouldn’t know it by listening to western politicians or mainstream media stenographers, there are also nonlockdown countries. They are led by Sweden, Iceland, Belarus, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

Surprisingly to some, their results have been as good or better than the lockdown countries, but without having to endure the socio-economic chaos we are now witnessing across the world. For this reason alone, Sweden and others like them, have already won the policy debate, as well as the scientific one too.

Unlike much of the rest of the world who saw fit to unquestioningly follow China’s lead on everything from quarantining, to economic shutdowns, to contact tracing, and PCR mass testing, nonlockdown countries have instead opted for a somewhat lighter touch – preserving their economies and societies, and in doing so avoiding an endless daisy chain of new problems and obstacles deriving directly from the imposition of brutal lockdown policy.

On the European front, the Scandinavian country of Sweden is now garnering more attention than before, and has become an object of both criticism and fascination for those against or in favor of lockdown policy. While countries like the United States and Great Britain continue to top the global tables in terms of COVID-19 death tolls, Sweden has only suffered marginal casualties in comparison, while avoiding the intense strain on society and loss in public confidence which lockdown governments are now grappling with as they continue to push their populations to the limits of social stress and economic tolerance. You could say those governments are already careening over the edge by looking at the latest jobless figures coming out the US with 30 million new people filing for unemployment in the last few weeks.

Unlike many others, Sweden has not enforced any strict mass quarantine measures to contain COVID-19, nor has it closed any of its borders. Rather, Swedish health authorities have issued a series of guidelines for social distancing and other common sense measures covering areas like hygiene, travel, public gatherings, and protecting the elderly and immune compromised. They have kept all preschools, primary and secondary schools open, while closing college and universities who are now doing their work and lectures online. Likewise, many bars and restaurants have remained open, and shoppers do not have to perform the bizarre ritual of queuing around the block standing 2 meters apart in order to buy groceries.

According to the country’s top scientists, they are now well underway to achieving natural herd immunity. It seems this particular Nordic model has already won the debate.

Because Sweden decided to follow real epidemiological science and pursue a common sense strategy of herd immunity, it doesn’t need to “flatten of the curve” because its strategic approach has the added benefit of achieving a much more gradual and wider spread.

Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s government advisor for epidemiology explains, “We are all trying to keep the spread of this disease as low as possible, mainly to prevent our healthcare system from being overstretched, but we have not gone for the complete lockdown. We have managed to keep the number of cases low enough so the intensive care units have kept working and there has always been 20 per cent beds empty and enough protective equipment, even in Stockholm, where there has been a huge stress on healthcare. So in that way the strategy has worked.”

Similarly, it doesn’t have the deal with the newest ‘crisis’ obstacle which lockdown states seem to be using as an excuse not to reopen society and the economy, which the fear of a ‘second peak‘ which governments are telling the public will wreak havoc on the nation by “infecting the vulnerable” and will “overwhelm the health services” if everything is suddenly reopened and social isolation and distancing is relaxed.

This catch 22 which countries like the US and UK are caught in is predicated on the belief that the coronavirus might suddenly unleash itself again on the populace. Certainly, there could be a second surge, but it should be noted that this is also a direct result of the decision to impose lockdown in the first place. According to top epidemiologist Dr Knut Wikkowski, the decision to lockdown only delayed the inevitable for countries like the US and UK, and quite possibly made the COVID-19 problem even worse than it would have previously been in the short to midterm, but in the long-term the results would be relatively the same proportionally in term of human casualties.

The penny should have really dropped after it was revealed two weeks ago by Oxford Professor Carl Heneghan, Director for Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, that the peak of the UK’s coronavirus ‘crisis’ actually came a full week before Boris Johnson initiated lockdown on March 23rd.

The numbers don’t lie, but statistics can be made to tell any story the narrator wants, especially when the storyteller is government. Just look at the last 50 years of announcements regarding unemployment and inflation levels. One thing we should have learned by now is that government will never let things like facts and real science get in the way of a slow motion train wreck in progress, hence you can see some UK officials still clinging to Ferguson’s initial prediction as some sort of ‘proof’ that the lockdown was necessary to avoid ‘mass death.’

Outside of popular supposition and media talking points, there is no scientific study which shows that lockdown saved any significant number of lives. Instead, new data strongly suggests quite the opposite.

The Ribbing of Sweden

As western lockdown countries drift further and further into an economic and social purgatory, nonlockdown countries like Sweden seem to be the target of bad-natured criticism by western media punditry. This seems to be out spite more than anything, as some journalists are sensing defeat after they had thrown their lot in with draconian lockdown policy early on, unquestioningly backing their governments’ one-size-fits-all approach to emergency management, once again invoking the TINA (There Is No Alternative) principle which history shows often precedes most man-made calamities from World War I, the Iraq War in 2003, to the 2008 Wall Street Bail Out.

Nonetheless, the media and political pressure has been almost relentless on Sweden for not complying with the west’s ‘lockdown consensus.’

The country has also been roundly criticized by some 2,300 academics who piled on scorn upon it in a letter posted in March demanding the government change course and immediately head for lockdown.

However, the country has held off, and has since won endorsements from a number of eminent academics and professionals, like Professor Heneghan who hailed Sweden for “holding its nerve,” in the face of such public condemnation. That steadfastness seems to finally be paying dividends now, as some western mainstream media outlets, and even the UN itself, are acknowledging their comparable success. The New York Post begrudgingly acknowledged that Sweden received praise from the high chair of global public health at the World Health Organization (WHO), now lauded it as a “model” for overcoming the coronavirus crisis.

Dr. Micheal Ryan, WHO head of emergency management said, “What it has done differently is it has very much relied on its relationship with its citizenry and the ability and willingness of its citizens to implement self-distancing and self-regulate.”

He added, “In that sense, they have implemented public policy through that partnership with the population …. I think if we are to reach a new normal, Sweden represents a model if we wish to get back to a society in which we don’t have lockdowns.”

So according to WHO, it is Sweden which could be the new normal – and not the reactionary medieval quarantine policies favored by other states. Is WHO really making an argument against obsessive social isolation, and collective economic suicide? Such words from WHO should, in theory, be reassuring to those stuck in their lockdown death spirals. But many in the west are still convinced of the TINA principle, even if their next door neighbor has chosen a short and more practical route through the eye of the storm.

More than anything, this conundrum speaks to the relationship between people and their governments. Indeed, it is the social contract between government and its citizens which forms the core of the country’s policy formation. The idea that the choice of lockdown policy is a straight trade-off between lives and economy is a false dichotomy which ignores many concomitant variables and factors which are at play.

“I don’t think it was in terms of economy versus a health of people. I think it was a broader concern about the social fabric in general,” said Lars Trägårdh, professor of history and civil society studies at Ersta Sköndal University College.

“It is wonderful that we have retained the amount of freedoms that we have here ….Who would have thought, you know, that Swedish social democracy would be in bed with American right-wing libertarians? Not me,” remarked Trägårdh.

Professor Cecilia Soderberg-Naucler from Sweden’s Karolinska Institute explained why the state was duty-bound to take the direction it did. “We must establish control over the situation, we cannot head into a situation where we get complete chaos. No one has tried this route, so why should we test it first in Sweden, without informed consent?” said Soderberg-Naucler.

This concept of people talking responsibility for their actions and for public well-being is actually enshrined in Sweden’s constitution. This means that the state does not have to threaten and abuse its citizens for things like not observing social distancing and buying ‘non essential items’ when out shopping, or meeting in small groups – as some governments are doing. Swedes know the risks and observe government guidelines accordingly. They also acknowledge that humans are not perfect and won’t use police and courts to punish citizens if they are not following guidelines to the letter – as is the case in many lockdown countries. In lockdown countries, the bad blood between the public and government will not evaporate after the ‘crisis’ is over, which is a real problem which lockdown governments will continue facing in the future.

Still, New York Post had to include the caveat that Sweden was something of a pariah state for “controversially refused restrictions“. The propaganda war could be seen in the paper’s subtle wordsmithing, where editors even went so far as to change their headline from “WHO lauds Sweden as ‘model’ in coronavirus fight for resisting lockdown,” to a slightly more incendiary “WHO lauds lockdown-ignoring Sweden as a ‘model’ for countries going forward”

Swedish critics are quick to point out how poorly it’s doing compared to its Scandinavian neighbors, Denmark, Norway and Finland. They do this by pointing to the new global bible of public policy – the World-o-Meter coronavirus running totals – which for some people is now the end all and be all which it comes to declaring how really, really bad things are, and will continue to be (because that meter just keeps on running).

As of today, Sweden, which has a population of roughly 10.5 million, has recorded 21,092 cases and 2,586 fatalities from COVID-19, that’s roughly 256 deaths per million people.

By contrast, its southern neighbor Denmark which has a population of 5.8 million has recorded 9,1058 cases and 452 fatalities, roughly 78 deaths per million persons. Norway is similar population at 5.4 million, and has recorded 7,738 cases and 210 deaths, that’s 39 deaths per million. Finland has a population of 5.5 million confirmed just 4,995 cases and 211 deaths, with 38 deaths per million.

Critics of Sweden have all seized upon these differences in order to condemn their government for being ‘irresponsible’ and “playing Russian roulette” with their citizens’ lives. If one didn’t know better from all the hysterical rhetoric, you’d think there was an impending genocide happening there. While these sort of polemic arguments seem to work in the narrow band of reality that are social media threads, the reality is that after scaling up its neighbors’ results to be in line with Sweden’s larger population which is roughly twice their size, the difference is statistically insignificant for a country of 10.5 million. They are basically arguing that when comparing Sweden to its neighbor Denmark, that a proportional difference of approximately 1,500 fatalities warrants Sweden closing all its schools and shutting down its entire economy and suffer all the chaos ill effects that goes with that course of action.

To put things in even more perspective, while Sweden has already suffered 2,586 COVID deaths in 2020, back in 2018 there were approximately 6,997 total respiratory disease deaths in Sweden – and the country’s healthcare capacity was not overrun, nor were any of their public systems stretched to breaking point.

It’s a ridiculous argument on its face, and yet, this is the line of thinking which seems to permeate through lockdown countries desperate to justify their own fatal policy decision.

It’s not a discussion for faint hearts, but this has been a reality for nations since time immemorial who have faced war, plagues and pandemics. There is no perfect answer, but there are practical answers that take utilitarianism into account.

Fear of the ‘Second Wave’

In what can only be described as a macabre display of bad faith, exasperated naysayers from lockdown countries seem to almost eager to see Sweden fall victim to the dreaded “second wave” which many Britons and Americans insist is a fait accompli, as their political leaders and science ‘experts’ keep telling them. The threat of a ‘second wave’ is certainly being used by some governments to justify an increasingly unpopular lockdown policy, but also lends itself to the preferences of Bill Gates who has been publicly advocating an open-ended lockdown arrangement until such a time that salvation will arrive in the form of a vaccine for the coronavirus. But even the most optimistic scenario would be somewhere between 18 months and two years, which begs the question of whether democracies and their economies can survive such an extended period of tumult. That’s a scenario which no one can realistically endorse, and yet it’s given prime time by mainstream media outlets who have been keen of offer-up the Gates plan as another TINA solution to the ‘pandemic’. Besides the obvious civilizational problems with the Gates global lock-up plan, it chronically ignores the fact that there are nonlockdown countries like Sweden who never opted into the west’s collective self-destruction pact.

Not everyone is on board with the inevitability of a “second wave” which the American and British government keeps insisting is coming if lockdown is lifted too early. Renowned Scottish microbiologist Professor Hugh Pennington is not convinced, saying that such a second peak is unlikely. “No, I’m not sure where this ‘second peak’ idea comes from,” says Pennington.

Still, Prof. Pennington seemed miffed as to where Boris Johnson’s government is getting its science from. “I know where it comes from, it comes from flu. Because when we have a flu pandemic we always get a second peak, and sometimes we get a third peak …. Now, why we should get one with this virus, I don’t quite understand …. It just seems to be a phenomenon with flu, and I don’t see any reason myself, and I haven’t seen any evidence to support the idea that there would be a second peak of the virus.”

According to other experts, one of the fundamental problem with lockdown policy favored by the US, UK other European countries, is that it was never evidence-based, or “guided by the science.” Quite the opposite in fact. Rather, it was a political decision, undertaken by politicians. Never in history has a country enacted such a universal measure which quarantines the healthy as well as the sick and infirmed. This also flies in the face of hundreds of years of epidemiological science and epidemic policy, and eschews the entire concept of natural herd immunity.

Again, the pragmatic approach would have been to protect those most directly effected by COVID-19 which is overwhelmingly the elderly and those in palliative care – a policy which would eventually bring a population herd immunity as a natural by-product of that policy. That’s been the approach taken by Sweden and other states, and according to numerous experts in the field, it makes sense on both an epidemiological level and well as a social and economic level.

In a recent interview with Radio 5, leading Swedish epidemiologist, Dr. Johan Gieseck, remarked how the UK had initially proposed the same plan as Sweden, but then Boris Johnson came under intense pressure from the media and opposition after the arrival of Imperial College’s notorious “500,00 dead” paper presented to the government by Prof. Neil Ferguson. As a result, UK officials quickly changed course in a “180 degree U-turn,” said Gieseck, who was shocked how an unpublished paper relying on computer models and with no peer review – could have played such a crucial role in altering such an important policy decision. How did that happen? One only has to look at the obvious nexus of funding between the UK government, Imperial College and the Gates Foundation to get a possible answer to that question.

The real question in all of this should be: who and what is driving western governments’ disastrous lockdown policy? After reviewing the evidence, we can rule out one possibility: it’s certainly not the science.

One way or another, our dear leaders seems to be absolutely bricking themselves about something. The way this virus has been handled by the major powers just seems weird and over the top. I am not dismissing its seriousness. But, to close down the entire capitalist system is just odd. Either:

1) We are led by incompetents, even by their own terms of competence

2) they are using this virus as cover for:
a)  implementing massive repression measures in anticipation of an economic catastrophe that is unavoidable - with the added bonus that these repressive measures are to "protect us"

"This virus cannot and never could be stopped once it fully got out into the world. The only exit is and always was herd immunity and the only way to achieve herd immunity is via a vaccine or via infection and recovery. That is a not a "right wing" or "left wing" statement. It is just a statement of fact based on the biology.

Being a member of the Corona family of viruses, Covid-19 is going to be massively difficult to produce a vaccine that works for whatever strain is abroad when it is rolled out due to its high mutation rate (the common cold is also a member of this family of viruses). Meanwhile, in the time it would take to produce a vaccine, our economy here in the UK would be utterly wrecked, leading to hunger and other economic privatizations of a level that no one alive has any experience of.

A terrible mistake has been made and many more people may now die as a consequence.

If the UK economy is wrecked on the back of lock-down, it is not like the collapse of something like the Russian economy at the end of the Soviet era. They could, at least, still feed themselves. This country is massively overpopulated (due to the insane immigration policies of successive governments of whatever political stripe since the end of the Second World War) and has to import over 50% of it's food. If our economy is reduced to a smoldering ruin, especially in the context of a world economy that is already on it's arse and where there will be little scope or appetite for international charity, we go hungry, it is that simple. Again, I say as someone who would describe himself as on the Left, this is nothing to do with "left" or "right". It is below that. It is to about biology and physics and they do not negotiate based on one's political preferences.

In a nutshell, the only solution out of this that keeps the CFR as low as possible from the virus itself whilst simultaneously leaving something vaguely resembling a functioning economy is a controlled infection of the under 60s with no comorbidities.

In other words, the current strategy(s) of a total lock-down till a vaccine arrives or a total lock down as a series of pulsed releases are unrealistic at best and economically catastrophic with all of the attendant health issues at worst.

Yes, pulsed release is certainly less awful than letting it rip due to our medical systems being less likely to be overloaded. But, that is predicated on three entirely unmanageable/unrealistic assumtions:

(a) those pulsed releases being adequately micro managed for at least a year and a half

(b) our economies remaining sufficiently intact to have the resources to enact those pulsed releases for as long as it takes

(c) the mass of the population being psychologically prepared and economically capable of withstanding the psychological and economic privations that such pulsed releases inevitably include.

Additionally, as I've alluded to above, at the end of such a pulsed release strategy, here in the UK at least, the damage done to the economy would be so total and so catastrophic there is the little matter of how, precisely, we would continue to be able to afford to import the more than 50% of food we need to feed ourselves. Not to mention the myriad of other industrial resources we need, not least energy itself.

In other words, I am suggesting that the economic fallout from such a strategy may well lead to a shortening of lives, over the longer term, that dwarfs the lengthening of lives achieved with a pulsed lock down. I am suggesting this because the evidence is already both voluminous and overwhelming about the effect of such economic privations on life expectancy.

A controlled infection of all those under 60 with no comorbidities, however, could be achieved in less than two months, would still be very unlikely to overwhelm our medical systems and would allow the comorbid and elderly to come out of lockdown at the end of two months due to having the protection provided by the rest of the under 60 population via their herd immunity. Critically, this would mean our economies would not be wrecked. Or, at least, not as wrecked as they are going to be with any other strategy.

It is especially urgent to do this now with this first wave where we already know how lethal this current strain of the virus is and which groups are most vulnerable. In any second wave, like as in 1918, any new mutant strain could be far more lethal to a far larger age range. So, we should encourage infection of those strong enough to recover now with this potentially less lethal strain.

It's time for a lot of people to stop being emotionally and morally incontinent and start thinking and acting like adults.

Sometimes, morality is not about doing what is "right". It is about doing what is least wrong. There are no good outcomes to this. Only awful ones. But, there are definitely some that are more awful than others over the longer term."

In then face of the COVID 19 crisis many capitalist states have found themselves forced to embrace some aspects of economic planning, as it turns out the free market is not equipped for dealing with crisis (who could have known 🤔🤔). However they have fallen short in many ways, and Stalin provides the perfect explanation as to why a fully planned economy is impossible under capitalism:
