FORTRESS-CENTRES OF CULTURE AND SCIENCE

In the Dark Ages, the flame of civilization and culture was kept burning in fortified centres: walled cities, monasteries etc. It may be that the time has come to think in terms of “back-up” for the knowledge and human expertise that we take for granted today.

What does that mean in practical terms? There can be little doubt that, were a breakdown of law and order to occur (whether as a result of war or natural calamity), the British cities would probably become chaotically lawless in a short space of time, especially if fuel, food, water or utilities were unavailable.

It seems to me that those inclined to social-nationalism should think in terms of relocating to areas some distance from major cities, to small towns and villages where like-minded people can become either the majority or a strong minority. Such clusters of people can take over the local councils, local businesses and farms, as well as doing the usual run of employed work which they might do in the cities where they, perhaps, now live.

The idea has the following merits:

a. Political (electoral or other) bases can be created, with voting weight;

b. The clustering effect would enable concerted action;

c. In the event of catastrophes in the wider world, these centres would become the places looked to by the wider masses for leadership.

Clausewitz said that, in order to extend power, one must first have a secure base. It is that that social-nationalism lacks at present in the UK. The above proposal aims to address that lack.

SMPBI is a growing party.  Our own brand of Organic Socialism sets us apart from the many organisations which simply ape Marx, Bakunin, Lenin, Mao, De Leon, Hoxha, Tito, Strasser, and a myriad of others. We take inspiration from each of them, and so do not fall into the trap of cultist factionalism which plagues many of the organisations operating in the British Isles.  We have our own way, which is happy to explore the contributions of others, but does not limit itself to a form of historical idolatry. 

As well as those from outside our territories, we look to great thinkers from the Isles - Saunders Lewis, Robert Owen, William Morris, J Bruce Glasier, Robert Blatchford, James Connolly, Gerrard Winstanley, to name but some.

The past gives us a solid foundation to build upon, but it has to be a foundation and not somewhere to dwell upon to the point of self-defeating obsession. There are plenty of organisations which dwell in continental Europe in the period between the World Wars.  These organisations have slipped into the Live Action Role Playing mentality, which is fine for groups like the Sealed Knot, but frankly pathetic when it comes to alleged political activists roaming around wearing the uniforms of yesteryear from countries which are largely consigned to history.

SMPBI is growing while other parties are stagnating or going into decline.  We have a vision for the future and we have the will to achieve that vision.  We need good people with the ability to create literature, leaflets and other propaganda, and the ability and drive to push that material.  Such people are joining - and by so doing, others of equally high calibre will join too.  We are building steadily, but as the condition in the Isles deteriorates, we need to accelerate our growth so that we can be an effective force against those who are profiting by the ruination of our lands and people.

A Question of Administrative Organisation for the Isles

Question
What about Parliaments and Assemblies will you abolish them or will England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have their own Parliaments?

Answer
The entire administrative organisation of the British Isles is a mess. Tinkering with the structure is pointless.  What is required for the old system to be junked and a new system put in its place.

So what are the alternatives?

• Devolution with overall authority resting in London
• A Yugoslav-style Rotation of Capitals
• Syndicalist Popular Assemblies feeding into a Central Government

Devolution

Devolution is the current system.  This method has seen the rise of separatists in Scotland and of wannabe separatists in Wales.  It has also encouraged the anti-English bigotry of the ridiculous Mebyon Kernow fanatics.

Devolution weakens the centre and creates divisions based on geography.  In the British Isles there has long been a toing and froing across areas which were historically distinct nations. 

The people of Ireland were once known as the Scotti, and through their migration the land of Alba became known as Scotland.  Of course the Picts remained and became intermingled, making it futile to claim that there is a 'pure' Scotsman, whether of Pictish descent of of Irish. 

The border between England and Scotland has shifted many times. Edinburgh was once a city in the old country of Northumbria, akin it a part of the north of England. The old country of Strathclyde stretched through the Lake District and included an area which is now called Lancashire.  Try telling Edinburgh folk they are really English!  Try telling Lancastrians they are not! 

Wales as it is today includes areas which were populated by the Irish (ironically the anti-English fanatics in Plaid Cymru's northern strongholds have more in common with the Irish who came before the English, than the Welsh to the south of them). Chunks of Wales were populated by the Normans.

In the areas known as England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland, people have intermingled so that if any such thing as a 'pure' angle, saxon, jute, norman, norseman, pict, briton existed, that is no longer the case.  We are all inter-related.  To divide us by geography is pointless, yet that is exactly what Devolution does.


A Revolving Yugoslav-style Administration.

In Yugoslavia, the Presidium ruled.  There was no single President - although in practise under Tito, it was he - and the leadership moved from region to region, with each part taking its turn to be the centre.

Kosovo was one of the regions (the others were Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vojvodina, Serbia, Macedonia). Kosovo was always a flash-point, and following the death of Tito, it became a place plagued by riots. The structure of Yugoslavia held together only for as long as there was no opportunity for it to change. When Slovenia split away, the other regions quickly followed, with the resulting wars and the NATO interference which wrecked that part of Europe.  Yugoslavia was organised in a manner not dis-similar to Devolution, and it fell apart rapidly when the bonds of unity were finally dissolved. 

A Yugoslav style system for the Isles, with the capital shifting from city to city, would be Devolution on a higher scale, and would inevitably see the country fall apart.


Syndicalist Popular Assemblies - Our Preferred Option

A system is possible in which the people select one from amongst them at street level, to act as delegates to represent them all. The delegates at that level form the next tier of representation as district/parish level, and from these a delegate is represented to go to the next level; the process repeated until a National Popular Assembly is formed in which the system of delegated representation means that the people at street level from everywhere, have a say.  At every level, a delegate who does not represent the people, but acts for himself, can be removed instantly.  This can be considered Syndicalism outside the Workplace and of course would be joined by Workers' Councils set up in the same manner.  A Centrally-focused Syndicalist Popular Assembly constructed in such a way could be the embodiment of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat which we need to banish exploitation and division.

This model does not allow for divisive regionalism. Every area has the same worth as every other. The idea of the people of Gwynedd demanding from government at the expense of the people of Lincolnshire, or the politicians of Ulster getting more due to a corrupt deal with London, becomes unthinkable.  The people work as one, each contributing according to ability, each receiving as according to need.

But where would the Capital be?

Regionalism has created many problems. The people of Ireland would not tolerate the Capital of the Isles being London. For that matter, to close down the Assemblies in London, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Parliaments in Dublin and Edinburgh, but leave the Parliament in Westminster in operation, would be unacceptable to everyone.  People outside London resent all the wealth and power being concentrated in the southeastern corner of the country. People in the very southeast (Kent) resent their county being impoverished even as it sits next to the capital.  Government in London has to be ended.

Oddly, the administrative centres of Scotland (Edinburgh) and Wales (Cardiff) are in the southeast of each region, and in Ireland Dublin sits on the eastern coast, as indeed does Belfast. Coincidental of course, but still odd.  What is not a matter of irrelevance, is that the people of England resent London, the people of Wales despise the concentration of wealth in Cardiff Bay, and the same goes for the others.  None of these places are suitable for an Administrative Centre for the region they sit it, let alone for the Isles.

The system of Assemblies requires a centre - a single centre, not a rotating one, not a collection of devolved ones.  As we have seen, the current cities which have Assemblies or Parliaments are no good as locations for a central administration. They are resented locally and to give them more authority would be a grave injustice.

We propose that the Central People's Assembly be located in an area which is geographically central for all the peoples of the Isles.  That area is the Isle of Man.  The Island sits between England, Scotland and Ireland, and is only a short trip from Wales.  The Island would benefit from having the Administration of all the Isles moved there, and no-one in the Isles across the sea in any direction has any problem with that area.

Concerning Actions rather than just Demos

A few thoughts to add to the call for Meaningful Actions rather than just Demos

I would like to add that a good example is Donbass. They are actually Revolutionary Republics: The Steel Industry and Coal Mines have been taken off from Kiev-based oligarchs and are actually taken over by the Workers and the People's Republics of Lugansk and Donetsk.

Communists, Ultranationalists and National Bolsheviks are cooperating for the Common Good and defying the Left versus Right nonsense which came out with the Freemasonry-led Bourgeois French and American so-called 'revolutions'.

Another example I can think of is Golden Dawn in Greece. They are doing a good job in assisting the Greek Proletariat starved by the IMF, the EU and Globalisation. There are of course other examples, including Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Connecting to the two examples in Britain, I can see where it comes from (the need for action) over demos. Deep down, I think the National Front is still better than the Socialist Workers Party by a million miles. Apparently, the NF is having a revival in recent years, as lots of people defected from the BNP, as several regional branches defected. Kevin Bryan, the current NF leader, defected from the BNP a few years ago.

The SWP is just an open Trotz pro-immigration (aka White Genocide) bourgeois pro-EU, pro-globalisation party of upper class uni students [who play at rebellion] before going to the City of London. Electorally speaking they are an electoral spare wheel of the Labour Party, as at almost every General Election they say 'Vote Labour'.

The NF and SWP both have faults, but as far as I know, at least the National Front have some positive ideas, not like the SWP Trotzs!

The PSFMA: The American Partner of SWPE

SWPE is an organisation which seeks to end the Capitalist State in the UK, and to build a Socialist Society of mutual cooperation.  SWPE stands under the banner of victory over the exploiters, of victory for Class and Nation.

To achieve a Socialist Society, means to take a stand against Global Capitalism, and by doing so to invite the attention of the terrorists of NATO, who are used by the Ruling Caste to murder all who stand in the way of the march of the financial imperialists and corporate oppressors.  It would be naive to the point of stupidity to imagine that we could achieve Socialism In One Country, without Socialists in other countries also achieving victory over the tyranny of capitalism.

SWPE is very pleased to be linking up with Socialists in other countries.  We believe in borders, and in the right of every people to control and own everything within their own lands.  We have been asked to recommend kindred spirits in the USA, for our Brothers and Sisters in that country to join. We have forged links to this end with the People Social Freedom Movement: America (PSFMA), which we urge all Socialists in the USA to support.  Their struggle is our struggle.

The following is the 11 Point Plan of the PSFMA

1) We call for community empowerment and grassroots democracy in order to allow for the people to express their freedom and destinies free from the control of the oligarchs that has divided the people and ripped freedom from our hands.

2) We call for full employment in quality jobs that are owned and managed by the workers themselves free from the exploitation of one class over another. As true freedom can not be expressed through poverty.

3)We call for universal healthcare and housing for all American citizens as you can not express your freedom while sick or homeless.

4) We call for a modern education system that focuses on history, literacy, mathematics, and cooperation to end the capitalist system that has produced children that know only enough to be cogs in a machine.

5) We call for the abolition of the Federal Reserve and break up the IMF and the creation of a democratic banking system modeled after the credit unions and an end to debt slavery (usury).

6) We call for the abolition of the CIA and the NSA as they have been doing nothing but infringing on the rights of the American people as well as all of their pet bills.

7) We call for the Federal legalization of Marijuana on both medical and recreational as there has been no evidence that has been provided that it has any negative impact on the human body and instead all of the evidence provided has proven it to provide many benefits.

8) We call for the separation of Church and State as promoted by our founding fathers and the reversal of the Republican attempts to force their religious beliefs down the throats of the American public.

9) We must respect autonomy within Native American land and communities, respect their Tribal Police and Tribal Courts and the reinforcement of the treaties signed throughout the ages.

10) We must promote the growth of renewable energies as seen in Southern Arizona and promote natural gas as well as the discontinuing of practices such as fracking in order to tackle Climate Change aka Sabotage.

11) We want an immediate end of all wars for oil and the end of the funding of terrorists around the world.

In addition to the 11 Points, the PSFMA has a policy of reaching out to others, in order to build Socialist Unity in practise.  This is a strategy we share, and it is refreshing to work with others who realise the futility of trying to make the various factions of the Left fall in line behind a single leadership structure - something which those who have any knowledge of the reality of politics will know is an unachievable dream, as long as the leaders of the many competing groups are unwilling to abandon their positions of authority in minuscule ghettoised organisations.

Again from the PSFMA:

We want to unite all people who are serious about creating socialism through our philosophy of community first

• You have been told that socialism can only be created in some distant future and only after the capitalist system has reached this or that stage or when the proletariat has been organized for this or that union or party we say that socialism can only come if we build it from the ground up through the radicalization and organization of our communities through service to the people, education, and art and the creation of a federation of these communities.

• There are those of you who say that revolution must come first however if I toss a penny amongst you each “vanguard” party among you will argue wither or not the coin landed heads or tails and such is your definition of revolution and socialism. We say that yes an insurrection maybe important in the future but as of right now we need to focus on the building of communities against the state and teaching the people about socialism through example and through practice. We say this that we believe in the realization of socialism in order to bring about the revolution!

We want unity amongst the Proletariat;

• We uphold Revolutionary Intercommunalism and as such we hold that unity must be achieved amongst all strata of the Working Class however we hold to the ideas of Bookchin that the consciousness of the Proletariat has became a clone to that of the Capitalist class and that the new consciousness must be communal in nature.

We want an active general strike not one that is reliant on just the factory workers but one that is also in the communities.

• This general strike not only focuses on labor but also a strike against the cultural and political life of the Capitalist Class and restores the autonomy of the Proletariat

We are socialists cloaked in the green of our communities and the red of labor we hold dear to these simple principles and to the need to engage in immediate action against capital and its forces.

A Clarification of Acceptable Contact with Other Organisations

SWPE is a tight knit organisation, but not a closed one.  For this reason we have not really had any problems with infiltrators.  As readers of this site will have noticed, we have had a period of silence. This was required to ascertain whether we had a mole in the organisation. Thankfully we have not, but events have required us to clarify our position on other organisations and just how much cooperation we should have with activists from outside SWPE.

We supported the Populist Party in London when they were set to contest the elections there.  We did so because they have policies which put people before profits.  Unfortunately they were not able to go forward in the electoral process, but they intend to do so in the future and we continue to support them in their endeavours.

Where we came into difficulties was with one of our most enthusiastic activists taking on too many responsibilities.  This led to actions which were well intended but raised questions about exactly how far we as individuals should go in building contacts with other organisations.  This had been left as a matter for individual consideration, but this proved to be counter to the interests of the organisation as a whole.

We now have a simple policy which all activists are required to adhere to.  Building bridges which link us with organisations which have policies or activities which go against our core values is not acceptable.  If anyone is in doubt as to which organisations are worthy of our approaches and which are not, they are to discuss this with local organisers, or where this is not possible (in the case of isolated activists or people higher in the party), they are to contact the central party.

The organisations, parties, groups and individuals which we are happy to build contact with, are listed in the Comrades section at the top of the page.  We have not until now had a proscribed list.  Due to misguided contacts with organisations which are detrimental to a healthy society, we now have one. The list is posted under the Proscribed section at the top of the page.  We have a third list for those which fall into neither category.  This is posted under the general heading of Links.  All lists are likely to be added to periodically, so it is advisable to check them before reaching out to external groups.  If in doubt, discuss your proposals with fellow activists.  Ours is not a dictatorial organisation, but without a clear system in place it is in danger from infiltration and ideological pollution.

We have decided to split the duties of the Comrade who prompted this need for a policy on acceptable contact.  The Committee feel that whilst enthusiasm is a positive trait for any activist, it is not right to allow any individual to take on too much responsibility.  The Comrade in question has been exonerated of any wrong-doing.  Thank you to individual members for your cooperation in overcoming this issue, and to supporters for your patience at this time.

SWPE Recruitment and Policy Strategy

 

SWPE is not a conventional party.  We do not contest elections.  We do not seek mass membership.  We do not play the game of the 'democratic' overlords - we implement direct democracy at every level and every part of our organisation.  This naturally leads to the ability to manoeuvre being somewhat slow, but we prefer the stability of maintaining a close-knit organisation to the alleged advantage of fluidity which comes from a dictatorial leadership of from conferences in which people vote as they would for a television game show.  Our organisation may be slow to move, but it is equally difficult to infiltrate and wreck.

October is the traditional month for discussion in the SWPE.  We do not have AGMs but October is the month in which we really get stuck into issues which require deep and passionate debate.  As a party which is founded upon real democratic principles, rather than the fake democracy of the liberal system, our policies are subject to continuous change to reflect the will of the members.  Sometimes it seems that we are subject to endless debate over minute details, but in the end, the debate is healthy.  We do not preach Socialism in every aspect of life and then employ the methods of the Ruling Class to control our membership.  There is no abusive strategy to 'keep the members in line'.  Our Socialism is genuine and as such is one which thrives on open discussion about everything.

Our deep and free structure does not mean that we have no policies or purpose.  Quite the opposite is the case.  In order to ensure that our platform is not hijacked by hostile elements and destroyed from within, we do not recruit in the conventional manner of allowing anyone who is willing to pay up for membership to join.  We prefer to contact people who we think are of a like mind and to then add them to our family.  Our organisation is small, but it is strong.  We have seen movements come and go who have existed solely to recruit members.  There has been an endless cycle in every part of the political spectrum of parties poaching from one another.  People can be seen to move in circles, changing the names of the organisations they hold allegiance to, until inevitably they drop out, sickened by the pantomime circus and the expense of time, money and energy for nothing.  We do not take part in these circuses.  We will work with other organisations, but we will not pilfer their members. 

We have reached a decision that it may be time to offer probationary membership in the conventional means.  This will not weaken us or threaten what will become the inner party.  We have been approached by people who wish to know more about us and who may in time become full members of our organisation.  The outer party will be a channel to the inner party but will not have the same position as the organisation we have built up and protected.  We accept that new blood can be good, but we are not obsessed with gaining members at the cost of losing our direction and becoming yet another captured group doing the bidding of the Ruling Class.

Building links across Europe. We stand together, or fall together

SWPE is a new organisation, created out of smaller organisations which have been around under various names for a fairly long time.  The policies of the founding organisations was always one of recruiting only those who were considered to be of such a high standard of ideological purity that they would simply fit into the respective parties.  The common recruitment policies of the Free Workers' League and the British Socialist Party worked perfectly; neither organisation suffered from any infiltration; neither suffered any ideological dilution; neither grew at all!

The steadfast refusal of the FWL and the BSP to recruit anyone with any views which were not wholly in-line with those of the party/league members, ended abruptly with the joint decision to merge the two groups into one movement: the Socialist Workers Party England.  The unification required compromises with regards to the name of the joint organisation, and to the manifesto.  To this end, the alternative names Socialist Workers' League and Free Socialists are still under consideration.  Most importantly, we do not as yet have a fully agreed upon programme.  However, these details are of less importance than the break-through we have achieved in unifying our former organisations in spirit, and taking steps away from the safe, but futile paths that we had been travelling.

Regardless of whether the name SWPE is retained, the new outward focus we have embraced, is already paying dividends.  In the first month of 2014, the SWPE has taken the bold decision to reach out to comrades across Europe in order to take the battle for a Socialist Europe away from the Marxist-liberal materialists, and return it to the people who understand that Socialism is not an economic doctrine, but a human doctrine.

Socialism is Society-ism!  It is the defence of society from those who would tear it down and make us into individualists with no cares for anything other than our own selfish egos, or even for anything more than our survival.  What use is there in achieving a deep understanding of the problems we face, if we keep this understanding to ourselves, and do not try our utmost to DO SOMETHING about the evils we all face? Isn't this attitude a form of 'collective' individualism?  A form of individualism worse than that of the materialists who have been brainwashed by the mass media, because it cannot use ignorance as an excuse?

This month, SWPE activists have taken steps to meet with representatives of organisations which share a common desire to defend the natural society.  It is with pride that we can disclose that we have made successful connections with comrades in mainland Europe.  We have made contact with figures in the syndicalist organisation Alianza Nacional, of Spain.  This is a vital step in building a network of anti-Marxist Socialists across Europe.  We may not agree with all of their ideas, but we support their faith in keeping Spain a nation for the Spanish people, just as we believe in keeping England a nation for the English.  Socialism is the unity of land and people, of blood and soil.  This first contact will hopefully be followed by more across the European homeland.  Together We Stand, United We Fall.  we can deal with the details of our differences after we have restored control of our lands to our own people.  Now we must fight as one.

Why SWPE? What's in a name?

The SWPE is a genuine Socialist organisation.  It has been noted that our name is similar to a Marxist group in England, called the SWP. This has raised a number of questions, including,

1. Are you in any way linked to the SWP?
2. Why are you called the SWPE?
3. Doesn't it cause confusion having a name which is so close to another organisation?

These are good questions which must be answered, and so they shall be!

1. The SWP is a Marxist party which serves the interest of the British State.  It provides proxy fighters via the UAF (formerly ANL) to attack anyone who is critical of the government's internationalist direction.  The SWPE, in contrast, is formed of people wholly opposed to the lies of Marxism.  We affirm the reality that Socialism is a natural state of existence, which goes beyond materialism.  We affirm that Socialism cannot exist except within the protective womb of an autonomous ethnically homogenous nation-state.  We oppose all Internationalists,, understanding as we do, that Internationalism means Death for Society, and the victory of money over people.  We are indefatigable opponents of the likes of the UAF who we know to be the agents of the State, and in many cases a Secret police apparatus.
2. The SWPE name comes from the merger of a number of smaller organisations, including the British Socialist Party (BSP) and the Free Workers' League (FWL).  As we are a movement for the return of England to natural Socialism, the name England is a part of our identity.  We are Socialists and we fight for the Workers.  The name is appropriate so we use it.
3. The SWPE is close to the SWP in name only.  In England there are organisations such as the Liberal Democrats, Literal Democrats, Liberal Party, National Liberal Party, and the Labour Party and Socialist Labour Party.  No one confuses the various Liberals (and literals!), or the Labour formations, so why should the SWP and SWPE be confused?

A name is just a label to work under.  What matters is the achievement of our goals.  These are ultimately encapsulated by one overall goal, which is the end of Marxism and its twin, Capitalism, and the return of English Socialism.  If the Marxist fakers of the SWP object to our name, then let them change theirs!  We are Socialist, not Marxists.  The SWP are Internationalist Marxists and have no business using the word Socialist in their title.

The Structure of the SWPE

Unlike mainstream parties who follow the dead and pointless electoral path, we in the Socialist Workers' Party England believe in radical change.  We do not have a leadership structure based on a high up executive telling the ordinary members what to do.  The old parties have failed because the leaders have no respect for the members, and the members expect the leaders to do everything for them.

The only way to achieve change is for people to take charge of their own destinies.  

Our members need to ensure that security is given the utmost importance.  There are enemies from the State, and from its lackey parties, who wish to infiltrate all movements for freedom.  We believe in activism, not subordination to a leadership clique.  All who wish to establish their own cells should do so.  We need to get our name out, and to let the nation know that there is a genuine Socialist alternative to the decaying and controlled Trotskyite parties which wear our colours, but fight against the nation for the benefit of the International Capitalist system which they pretend to oppose.

Free Social and National must be our code.  National Freedom is vital to stop Capitalism.  Real Socialism is a strong defender of national borders.  It is time to take this message to the streets, and to stop the damage that Trotskyite infiltrators have done to Real Socialism.
