Socialist Quotes for Sunday Reflection pt 89

None of this is or ever was complicated.

A slight majority voted Leave in the EU referendum of 2016. Since that time, every voter, of any and all persuasions, have seen the entire political class do literally everything in its power to overturn that result. This has enraged Leave voters and appalled a significant number of Remain voters. All we are seeing right now is the blow-back from all of the above.

Never mind that Johnson's "deal" is, in reality, May's surrender treaty with lipstick on. Never mind that (from my perspective), a socialist renewal of this country and its people has never been more needed than since the end of the Second World War. Never mind all of that. What we are now going to get is at least another five years of the shit show that is a Tory administration.

So, who do I blame most of all in all of this? I blame the fucking middle-class, petite-bourgeois, faux-left liberal wankers who now so infest the Labour party membership and who are no better than the rest of us unwashed plebs. But, who erroneously thought they were and arrogantly pressurized a Labour leadership into triangulating its way through Brexit to a Remain position and, in the process, pissed all over the working class of this country who voted, overwhelmingly, to Leave the EU.

It's been like watching a re-run of the train wreck that was the last Democrat campaign in America.

How the fuck did these arrogant wankers think this was going to end other than as it is?

Labour are going to lose this election. Possibly massively. At which point cue all of the talking heads in the mainstream media saying it is because Labour was "too left". Not because of Labour betraying their core voters over Brexit. Oh, goodness me no.

Cue, simultaneously, the ousting/retirement of Corbyn and the reinstatement of a neoliberal apologist and back to BAU and Labour's onward march towards being a simulacrum of the alliance of professional liberals, students and ethnic minorities that constitute the Democratic party in America.

In the absence of something like the above happening, Labour, as currently constructed, will possibly be destroyed anyway.

I might, at this point, have said that Labour's new Socialist Vision is over. But, the truth is, as soon as it was clear they were going to betray the working class of this country over Brexit, it was equally clear that Labour's "socialism" was all a mirage.

In the absence of a wider sovereignty, all the conception of a common market does is to elevate the marketplace to the status now enjoyed by the various European parliaments.

Is it the disenfranchisement of the people and the enfranchisement of market forces?

Are we now expected to go back almost a century, reject Socialism, and clasp free trade to our bosom as though it were the one solution of our social evils?

The conception of the Common Market… is the result of a political malaise following upon the failure of Socialists to use the sovereign power of their parliaments to plan their economic life… It is an escapist conception in which the play of the market forces will take the place of political responsibility…

"The savage who loves himself, his wife and child with quiet joy and glows with limited activity of his tribe as for his own life is in my opinion a more real being than that cultivated shadow who is enraptured with the shadow of the whole species.

Nationalism was created as a doctrine to defend the interests of the nation in the process of its education and development. Each nation, founded at different times, is a social group that has been founded and consolidated throughout history based on blood, language, regional and cultural identity, and consists of different classes and social classes. In no country or society is there a person who is isolated from the nation. All are their members who belong to a particular class or social class, on the basis of which they have a national and a class identity.

SPEECH TO KFA INTERNATIONAL MEETING IN COPENHAGEN ,DENMARK -PRESIDENT KIM IL SUNG A GREAT LEADER WHO TOOK CARE OF PEOPLE”S LIVES by Dr Dermot Hudson

The great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG was a true people's leader who said that "My God is none other than the people. Only the popular masses are omniscient and omnipotent and almighty on earth. Therefore my lifetime motto is: "The people are my God.". He was always dressed in simple and plain clothes . During the Korean War he said that if people eat millet , then he too would eat millet.

Visiting the Kumsusan Palace of the  Sun , the final resting place of the President KIM IL SUNG , several times ,  I saw the train that President KIM IL SUNG used to give on-the spot guidance (on the spot guidance means visiting units and localities not just giving guidance but learning about the needs of the people). From 1945 to 1994 the great leader President KIM IL SUNG visited 20,600 different units or workplaces in the DPRK travelling a distance of 578 ,000 kilometres the equivalent of travelling around the world many times . He spent 8600 days giving on the spot guidance which means that every almost every second of day of his life was spent giving on -the spot guidance.

  Right up to the end of his physical life  President KIM IL SUNG worked tirelessly for the people . Only two years before he passed away President KIM IL SUNG took the measure of increasing wages , salaries and allowances for the Korean people. On the 13th of February 1992  President KIM IL SUNG had the Decree of the Central People's Committee of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea titled "On Enforcing the Policy of Pay Raises For All Workers. technicians and office employees and of increasing the income of office workers " which was to be effective from the 1st of March ,1992.  Explaining the measures of the decree President KIM IL SUNG wrote ;

"  Now that new success have been achieved in socialist construction and the country's economic power has been further increased , our Party and the government have taken epoch making measures for markedly raising the pay of all workers , technicians and office employees , increasing the income of the co-operative farmers and granting more state benefits to the people .

These measures are an embodiment of the long-standing policy of our Party to more satisfactorily provide people with independent and creative lives .These are historic measure which  demonstrate the superiority and invincibility of socialism in our country "

I remember as a low paid office worker , struggling to pay for rent and food,  reading the news in the "Pyongyang Times " with great excitement . Pay for workers, office workers and technicians was to increase by 43.4 per cent !.To me this was astounding  In my country I could only dream of such a pay rise and even we when we got pay rises they invariably had strings attached to them . Social security payments for pensioners were to be increased by 50.7 per cent .! Again a dream like figure for pensioners in capitalist society . In the UK pensioners ask "will it be eating or heating ? ". The scholarships of students were to rise by 33 per cent . Prices paid to farmers for rice were to be raised by 26.2 per cent and for maize by 44.8 per cent , in order to boost their income . At the same time it was decreed that there would be no increase to the prices of food rations supplied to the people . So the increases to pay and pensions were increases in real terms .

Also in 1992 flats for 50,000 families ( roughly 150, 000 to 250,000 people , roughly up to the size of  Nottingham in the UK )  were completed in Tongil (Reunification) street in Pyongyang .Thus people enjoyed a great leap forward in living standards thanks the people's policy of President KIM IL SUNG and the superiority of Juche-based socialist system built under his leadership.

Some 18 years earlier President KIM IL SUNG had abolished the taxation system in March 1974 making the DPRK the first tax free socialist country and at the same time reduced prices of basic commodities by up to 50 per cent . These measures combined gave Korean working people a huge boost to their income. In the difficult period after the Fatherland Liberation War President KIM IL SUNG had prices reduced on 16 occasions.

Thus President KIM IL SUNG was a great leader who took care of people’s lives and devoted his entire energy to improving living standards.
Today the work of President KIM IL SUNG is continued by the honourable successor to the Juche revolutionary cause dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN who also devotes his energy to improving living standards of the people.

The DPRK is the only state in the world with virtually free housing , free education , free health care and no personal taxation .Our duty in KFA is to defend this and publicize its achievements . Let us unite to defend People’s Korea !

LONG LIVE THE ETERNAL MEMORY OF THE GREAT LEADER COMRADE KIM IL SUNG ,SUN OF JUCHE !

LONG LIVE RESPECTED MARSHAL KIM JONG UN
LONG LIVE JUCHE !
LONG LIVE SELF-RELIANCE !
LONG LIVE PEOPLE’S KOREA !

“To resist is to defy all that threatens you. To be a rebel is not to accumulate a library of subversive books or to dream of fantastic conspiracies or of taking to the hills. It is to make yourself your own law. To find in yourself what counts. To make sure that you’re never “cured” of your youth. To prefer to put everyone up against the wall rather than to remain supine. To pillage whatever can be converted to your law, without concern for appearance.”
